Skin treatments
Skin treatments are non-surgical procedures that use lasers, radiofrequency, ultrasound or injections to improve pigmentation, firmness, scars and pores. Most are done over several sessions, and the results and how long they last vary widely from person to person.
01Overview
Skin treatments is an umbrella term for treatments that improve the skin with devices or injections instead of surgery. The devices and methods differ with the goal, whether that is pigmentation such as melasma and dark spots, firmness and sagging, acne scars or pores.
02Types
- Pigment lasers: lighten pigmentation such as melasma, dark spots and freckles.
- Fractional lasers: make tiny holes in the skin to improve scars and pores.
- Lifting devices: deliver heat beneath the skin with ultrasound or radiofrequency to improve firmness. → Types of laser lifting
- Injections: botulinum toxin, fillers, skin boosters and other injectables.
03Recovery
After gentler treatments, normal activities are usually possible the same day. After treatments that resurface the skin or make holes in it, redness and scabbing can last from a few days to 1 to 2 weeks. Advice to protect the skin from UV and keep it moisturized is common across clinics.
04Cost
Cost varies widely with the device, the area treated, the number of sessions and the clinic. Even for the same device, sites record the amount used (such as the number of shots) differently, so their numbers cannot be compared directly. Ask for a quote that lists both the device name and the amount used.
05Side effects
Redness, swelling and temporary pigmentation can occur. Rarely, burns or scars may result, so if you notice pain or blisters after a treatment, tell the clinic that did it right away.

07FAQ
Does a single session make a difference?
It depends on the treatment. Pigment and pore treatments are often done over several sessions, while lifting devices are sometimes used once and repeated every few months.
Can I wear makeup right after a treatment?
After treatments that resurface the skin or make tiny holes in it, clinics often advise waiting a few days. For gentler treatments, some clinics say the same day is fine. Follow the instructions of the clinic that did the treatment.

- Types of laser lifting
Most treatments commonly called laser lifting are device treatments that deliver heat beneath the skin with focused ultrasound (HIFU) or radiofrequency (RF) to improve firmness. Each type of energy reaches a different depth and feels different, and results often appear over several months.
